Gyeonggi Academy of Foreign Languages (GAFL) is a coeducational boarding school for grades 10 through 12. GAFL’s mission is to nurture creative global leaders, who serve humanity with integrity, academic excellence, ingenuity, creativity and global understanding. In line with this educational philosophy, GAFL implemented the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP). GAFL is the first national school in Korea to be authorized as an IB World School. Last year, more than half of the 2011 class was admitted into the Top 3 universities in Korea.

 

New Positions are offered to qualified teachers in English (English major) 1, Mathematics 1, Economics or Business 1, Science (Chemistry, Biology) 1, Film Studies 1, Drama 1 and Japanese 2.

 

 

 

1. Work Outline

 

-teach, organize and conduct classes

 

-attend teacher meetings and committee meetings

 

-support and organize extracurricular activities of students in school

 

-examination related duties

 

-communication between parents and guardians

 

-perform necessary duties as instructed by the principal

 

 

2. Working Condition

 

-Start date: February 1st, 2012

 

-Contract duration: minimum 1 year (it may vary according to experience)

 

-Teaching hours: 16~20 hours

 

-Working hours: 7:40~ 4:40

 

-Monthly salary: KRW 2.9million~3.8million (it may vary according to experience)

 

-Housing: housing will be provided if needed (KRW10 million deposit and KRW 450,000 per month) or a stipend of KRW 400,000 per month will be available to teachers with their own housing

 

-All IB teachers are required to attend an introductory workshop offered directly through the IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization) sponsored by GAFL at some point during the first year.

 

 

3. Eligibility

 

-English native speaker or Korean-English bilingual speaker

 

(For Japanese teachers, English speaker preferred)

 

-Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited university

 

-Teaching license in home country (preferred)

 

-IB workshop experience (preferred)

 

 

4. Application documents

 

For document screening:

 

-resume

 

-cover letter stating your reason for application

 

-letter of recommendation

 

-your country’s teaching license or other teaching license, if applicable (copy)

 

*We accept the application documents by email only. You should bring an original copy of documents or license on the day of the interview.

 

 

Upon hiring the following documents will be required:
Copy of transcript (two sealed copies will be required for immigration)
Copy of diploma (original, or apostilled copy will be needed for immigration)
Criminal Background Check (within three months, you will need to have it apostilled for immigration)
Copy of any certificates or qualifications (original, or apostilled copy will be needed for immigration)
Photo (two passport sized photos will be needed for your visa application)
Copy of Passport

 

 

5. Period for acceptance

 

-November 10th, 2011~ November 24th, 2011

 

 

 

6. Examination schedule

 

-1st stage: applicant’s document screening (the result will be notified individually on November 30th)

 

 

-2nd stage: written exam: related to subject (for applicants who passed document

 

screening only)

 

*Applicants who are in Korea must come to the school. Overseas applicants

 

must write exams online (the exam will be sent online before the exam starts and duration of time is approximately one and a half hours from the starting time)

*Applicants who are in Korea must come to the school. Overseas applicants will do a video interview.

 

 

-3rd stage: sample lesson (for applicants who passed the 2nd stage only)

 

*Applicants who are in Korea must come to the school. Overseas applicants
