THE DONALD OR CROOKED HILLARY?
1316박지원

As it becomes settled that Donald Trump will be 2016’s Republican representative, the US is predicting mudslinging that has never before happened in its presidential election history. A slugfest is unavoidable as Trump jumps into the final race for the White House, when the US government is divided into its two parties by the extremes.

Trump is well-known for his sharp tongue and that is a quality we’ll continue to see in him. And though it may be one of his faults, in this election, his big mouth is one of his strong points. After his entrance in the race last June, his blunt speeches won the support of the conservatives, and struck his rivals down one by one.

Though his negative campaign was criticized by the public, it has shown how honest and uncensored he is in saying what he wants. He began as the candidate who caused many to become concerned about future democracy in the US and his inexperience in the field of politics, but his “Crooked Hillary” attacks won over many.

Controversially, former president Bill Clinton (spouse of Hillary Clinton) is setting out their experience in their front. Hillary self-describes herself as a president who will take charge of the country from Inauguration Day.

But there’s nothing new about her proposals, as the public has been well-aware of her industrious history. Not to mention, Hillary is facing confrontations of e-mail scandals, accusations of Bill Clinton being involved in sex-abuse, and the extravagance of the Clinton foundation.

Now, with a candidate with so many fallacies as a rival, Trump may succeed with his ‘negative campaign’ and take the elections that are to take place in November—if he were to attack Clinton as an individual. But it’s not like Trump hasn’t got any weaknesses, his main weakness lies in his policies involving the minority races: Muslims and immigrants. Many have predicted that the downfall of Trump will be due to the numbers of the minor populations that should not be ignored. But that was until Trump caught up to Hillary and actually pulled forward.

Hillary says she’s preparing for the nastiest general election in US history. The media says that Trump being elected will be the death of the Republicans, and that his sharp tongue may one day backfire.

Though both candidates are highly disliked by many, their polls are now neck-to-neck, with Trump slightly in the lead—but it’s too early to tell what the results will be. We’ll just have to sit back and wait...until November.
