Creating an Ideal Workplace for Female Employees
1304 ¹Ú±¤¹Î

According to the Business Insider, a web magazine, a number of American companies are adjusting their systems in a way to support female employees. For instance, the Facebook company, known for its social network services, has launched a ‘baby cash’ system which provides 4 thousand dollars per each child. Furthermore, the company permits a four month paid leave in order to guarantee full rest and recovery from pregnancy. Due to these welfare systems, female employees have relieved the burden of nurturing their children and handling office business at the same time.

This is a significant improvement compared to past times, where women were mostly mistreated at work, and gender discrimination had become a serious social problem. There is even a term called ‘glass ceiling’ which refers to an invisible barrier that discourages women from promotions, no matter how excellent their performances are. Even in job interviews, female interviewees are judged based on prejudices and biases, and they are often questioned about childcare matters.

However, women nowadays have proved the fact that they can perform as well as men, and companies are also seeking for ways to prevent resignation within talented female employees. According to the Wall Street Journal, after the Google Company increased the length of maternity paid leave in 2007, the resignation rate within female workers decreased about 50 percent. This is a win-win situation where the company can benefit from an increase in business efficiency, and where the employee can manage both childcare and labor. In conclusion, in order to create an ideal working environment, companies are struggling to improve welfare for both men and female workers and to lessen the gap between genders.
